Today we had another pool day at the hostel, soaking up the sun and catching up with our books. For lunch, we cooked the food we bought to cook last night before we found out about the free BBQ (a sausage and a slice of bread - we should have learnt our lesson about these things by now!). At about 5pm, we caught the free bus in to town and our first stop was…more food! This time we found a café and had an all day breakfast each!
Having finally finished eating for the day, we walked along the seafront to the Elvis tent to catch the final of the Elvis Tribute Act competition. When we arrived we saw a fantastic 'professional' Elvis Tribute called Mark Anthony, who's already won a lot of these competitions and we were very impressed! Then all 12 finalists wandered through the crowd and back to the stage for the result - very surreal to see so many Elvises (Elvi?) all in one place! The winner was Damian Mullin who got $3500 and a place in the big competition in Memphis, representing Australia, although the announcer explained that he's expected to use his prize money to fly himself and his wife to Memphis - surely they should be paying for him?? Anyway, we had a good night!
Eventually we headed back to the hostel and spent some time online before heading to bed! I'm sure all the screaming women at the concert (he's not the real Elvis!!) won't get much sleep tonight!
