We got up quite early again (getting used to early mornings and early nights!), showered, and headed back into Auckland. Today we'd decided to follow a walking tour that was in our NZ guide book, so we parked up in the city centre, near the start of the route.
After stopping for a coffee we found a second hand book shop so bought a book each (I think we'll be getting through a lot of books if we read for a few hours every night when it gets dark!). The next thing that caught our eye was somewhere offering internet for $2 an hour! So we botgh got a computer and logged onto facebook to see all the comments and 'likes' on our statuses from yesterday - a lot!! We spent an hour and a half sorting photos and researching campsites. We also emailed Dave's Great Aunty Mary, who we are hoping to visit in Wellington.
After that we were starving so stopped at a chinese cafe and got a box of chicken noodles for $5 each. We sat in a nearby square to eat, then completed the walking tour which took us through the University grounds and down to the marina. We found a post office to post our Fiji postcards and managed to buy a bigger torch for our van. We walked back to the car park then headed to our home for the night - Arataki Visitors Centre, where we again stayed in the car park for $5 each. Unfortunately there weren't any showers this time, but the views were amazing. We did a quick walk to see some small kauri trees then made our food (pasta again!).
After we'd been reading for a while there was a knock on the window and I had to show our camping permit to the security guys! It was a cold night and we wer the only people in the car park which scared me a bit but we were fine and slept very well!
