Today we spent the first part of the morning by the pool in the sunshine after another fantastic breakfast. Still getting used to calling Laura my fiance (fiancee?)!
At 2pm we went to the Dive Shop to meet Kuki, who was going to be our instructor for 'Discover Scuba', an introduction to scuba diving. After watching a DVD explaining about the different equipment, we signed our disclaimer and headed to the pool. Kuki helped us to put on our BCDs and tanks and went through how to clean our masks, how to use the regulator and how to inflate and deflate in the water. We then spent about 20 minutes swimming in the bottom of the pool (about 3 meteres deep - designed for scuba diving). It was an interesting experience and we both enjoyed it, so we decided to do an Ocean dive the next day!
In the evening, at dinner during Frasers daily speech (where he tells everyone about what is happening that night and the next day), he announced that we were engaged! We got a round of applause and earlier we'd had a free glass of champagne courtesy of Octopus!
The entertainment was an International Crab race, so after dinner we all went down the the beach to choose our hermit crabs. I went for a big one which looked quite fast, and Laura chose a smaller one. We went through two elimination rounds before the grand final and both of our crabs made it to the final! Even better... my crab won the whole thing! Another bottle of free booze for us - red wine this time as they'd run out of champagne! We (us, Nicki and Duncan) were about to go to bed when Fraser came over and asked us if we'd drink another bottle of red wine with him...4 bottles later, we moved onto Whisky! We eventually headed to bed at about 1:30am - a good night, if unexpected!
