There was a few bits 'n' bobs me and Alice needed to get shopping, including soap and conditioner which you can get quite cheap from Crazy Clark's, which was in Main Beach, in the opposite direction to Surfer's from the hostel, but the shopping centre wasn't very good and so we walked all the way from there to Surfer's, back on ourselves. I got a pair of jeans for $12.50- I needed some for work since Blake enforces the 'no shorts' rule that Josh ignores.
Along the way we went into Peter Pan's to trawl online for suitable House shares, and the travel advisor suggested we try in mermaid beach, a bit out of town, because you can get a lot for your money. Alice found one that sounded along the lines of what we're looking for, and I found a granny flat that was a bit closer to work. On the walk back Adrian, the owner of the mermaid beach place, rang and so we're going there to have a look round tomorrow at 2.30 pm. unfortunately the granny flat (which I liked the sound of better) is no longer available.
The guy from the computer repair shop rang and told me that it's something wrong with the hardware and screen. The hardware will cost $220 to repair, and he hadn't looked into how much the screen would cost until he knew whether I'd consider getting the hardware fixed first. I'm going to look into how much a new one will cost before I decide and perhaps go to another repair shop and see if they've got cheaper offer.
Work was very strange as it was like half of me knew exactly what I was doing and the other half didn't have a clue. I had thought my section would be easy- I only had one table of 4 and three tables of 2 but the Surfer's Paradise Hogs Breath likes to churn the meals out and get new customers in quickly. Time seemed to go very slowly as it felt like I was taking ages to do things and I think the kitchen aren't as quick as the one in Cairns. Blake seems to get annoyed when I tell him stuff he should probably find useful, like that the toilet is blocked. I got $20 in tips which might make him think I'm OK.
I finished at 8.50 (we get paid to the nearest 5 minutes) and so rushed back to get changed so I could meet the rest of the hostel on the Big Night Out- you pay $30 which gets you free entry to 4 clubs- Melbas, Beer Garden, Vanity and Sin City with a free drink in each, and half price drinks thereafter, although Lee, the hostel manager, gets loads of free drinks and so was dishing them all out to us. A girl called Holly was absolutely hilarious and kept us entertained with her funny dancing.
