What a full on day!! First stop Weta studios and what an awesome place filled with movie memorabilia with Lord of the Rings the main attraction for me. We watched a short DVD about the studios which made it seem like the most amazing place to work. Definitely worth a visit and it's free which is going to be the theme of today.
Second stop, The Beehive. We went on a tour of the Beehive and the Parliament Buildings, again it was free! Surprisingly this was well worth the visit also. A lot of history, very informative, beautiful buildings, great architecture, and exquisite decor.
Third stop, after getting caught in the rain, Te Papa NZs (free) museum! Again this is also a 'must do' in Wellington. A vast array of exhibits, of most interesting to me was the Tainui exhibit. For my international friends Tainui is the tribe I am from. We also got to see the Webb Ellis Cup, awesome timing as it's only there for a few days.
We talk a walk along the water front, it is beautiful down there with the fresh sea breeze! We even saw two penguins swimming but I was too slow for photographic evidence.
Man I love this city!!!!! I wish I had known about this place when I was still living in NZ!!!!!
