Kya Travels
After a bit of a sleep in today, I woke up feeling a bit ******. Those freezing camping days had caught up with me. Darren was feeling slightly better though, so that was good. The boys went for a walk to buy some food for breakfast and some medicine from the pharmacy and when they got back we had breakfast together. They had bought bread rolls, cheeses, meats, spreads, chili and lots of that kind of thing, and we had it all out on the table to make your own rolls, which is apparently a traditional way of eating breakfast with your family on the weekends. It sure was yummy! After breakfast we got ready and went for a walk through the city. We walked around having a chat and being shown all the places we walked past and got told a bit about the city. We went to a bookshop in the city centre where Darren had a look at stickers and I bought a book for my auntie who was teaching herself to speak German. Afterwards we walked through the centre of town, which had been done up recently, and saw an old tram which had been turned into a cafe after the tram lines were taken out of action and the metro system put in. We walked past some massive swings and a huge see-saw, which looked like fun! We walked past a very modern looking area, which apparently used to be filled with beautiful old houses, which were knocked down and replaced by ugly modern buildings, and we walked past a very "Star Wars" looking building. We walked up to a really tall building with a giant U on the top, which used to be a brewery, but is now an art gallery. It was free entry, so we went in to check it out. As we went up the many escalators between floors, they had a projection of a guy walking with his suitcases along the wall. We could see into the art gallery section, which looked very abstract, but we kept going up to a little room which was on about the fifth floor. It was a small square room, which actually protruded out the side of the building, and it had a few bean bags inside, a good view of the town and had some abstract ever-changing music playing. We relaxed on the bean bags for a while before continuing up the stairs to the top level, where we went onto the roof terrace where there was another great view of the town through tall glass walls. We got a few photos there and a man took some of the three of us jumping in the air, then not long later, there was an announcement that the place was closing so we made our way back down to the lobby. There was a cool circular bench that we went to sit on for a photo, but as we sat on it, a musical tone started playing! So after testing it out, we realized that all different parts of the bench had a different tone! So we got up and ran around on top of the bench for a bit! That was so funny! After playing with that for a bit, we started the walk back to the apartment. We stopped at a kiosk where the boys got a Bergmanns beer, which is a locally brewed one which was apparently really nice. I was still feeling too **** for beer! When we were a bit closer to Pancho's place there were these streamers everywhere tied to poles, with messages like 'no war' and 'make guitars not war' and 'free boobies'. That was pretty funny! When we got home we just chilled out for a while, used the wifi and I had a quick Skype session with Tiana, and we also skyped Pancho's friend, Basti, who was studying in the US. We ordered some pizza and the boys went to pick it up while I used Paint to add Nuno and Flo to one of our jumping photos, which looked pretty funny! When the boys got back, we ate some pizza and went to watch a German film that Pancho had, but there were no English subtitles, so we ended up watching Jesse James. I fell asleep halfway through, and everyone else was almost asleep too, so we ended up turning it off and went to go to bed. Pancho's housemate had gone away for the week, and left us her bed and room to stay in, so we went in there and put the new sheets on the bed, before falling into the comfortable comfortable sheets!
