Kya Travels
We woke up this morning and hung out in the kitchen with the English girls and a young American guy called David, from California. We invited them to lunch, and headed into town together to find another vegetarian place I'd heard of. We went in and got seated in the restaurant, which had a really cool vibe, and sweet lighting. Stars on the roofs, lights inside the tables, candles and small lights inside coconuts. It was really cool in there! We ordered some food, and it was sooooooooooooo delicious! I can't even explain how amazing it was! We had some good conversation about various medieval torture methods, which was quite interesting! (The girls had been to a torture museum here in Prague!) After lunch we were planning to go for a hike up by the hunger wall, which I was really psyched for, but we walked outside and it was spitting down rain and was ridiculously wet, so there's no way we could do it! Shattered! So instead, we looked at our maps and decided to go find a pub. The one we were looking for wasn't actually there (maybe it opens later), so we wandered down and found a local-looking pub called Duende and went to order a drink. We got a beer each and sat at a table next to a bunch of what we thought were locals, but turned out to be English guys! (And they were a bunch of 'chavs' (bogans) according to Laura!) We played some drinking games, and had a bit of a laugh with the English guys, and had our drink. When we had finished, we realized we'd lost David, so were standing on the street looking for him, when we noticed him in a kebab place across the road! After marveling at how he could eat after our massive lunch (and giving in to the temptation of a pizza slice ourselves!) we went walking to find another pub. We stopped at the next one we passed because we were too cold and wet to keep walking (thongs and t-shirts weren't the greatest idea!) and ordered another beer each. When we sat down we realized the English guys from the other pub were in there too!! Must have passed us when we were in the kebab place! We had a beer and a chat there, and were served by a very seemingly disgruntled old barkeep, then when we were finished there we headed out into the rain again. We slowly were making our way towards our hostel, but when we got to the bridge, we went to go into another pub, but decided against it because it looked too posh! So we went across the bridge and did a few blocks around our hostels area. Dave and I were swapping his flannel back and forth so we could both keep warm (what a sweetie!) which was funny. "You can have it to the end of the street, then I'll have it for the bridge, and you have it to the pub" etc! Funny. We ended up finding a pub that was in a basement where we got another beer and had another chat. The convo turned a little D&Mish here, but it was still awesome. We also learnt a lot about the etiquette of the queue in Britain, which the girls were quite passionate about! Hilarious. From there, it was about dinner time, so we all went down the road to the pub, Olympia, where Darren and I had eaten the other night, and luckily were able to get a table in the packed pub! (Non smoking area too, bonus!) I got a veggie lasagna, and Darren was able to get the same dish as he'd had last time which he's been raving about! We all got another beer there too, and enjoyed each others company over some amazing food. After dinner we went back to the hostel so we could get some jumpers and shoes, and met up with Jeff, who had been lonely at the hostel, and had forgotten about our plans for where we were going for dinner! Oops! But he joined us as we all walked back into town, went through the old town to the street that has heaps of pubs and clubs, and went to the pub called the Beer Museum! This place had about 30 beers on tap, and a massive menu, with a page for the description of each beer! We all pretty much ordered randomly, except Darren who was smart and asked for a recommendation! His turned out to be the best, although they were all amazing. We all had a drink and a chat together, and I had a little chat to a group of French people on the next table who had a few recommendations for Budapest, where we were heading next! After a couple of beers Jeff left, saying he had a bit of a cough (I'm still not entirely convinced it wasn't just because there was another young guy there competing for the attention of the lovely English girls!!) and the rest of us stayed on for just one more drink. After that we headed back towards the hostel, through the town square where we had to wave off a square full of men trying to take us to a strip club, and went back to the hostel. We chilled out in the kitchen for a little bit longer, then said goodnight to everyone and went off to bed.
