Kya Travels
I woke up today, got ready and headed down to the riverside to find somewhere nice to record a birthday video for mums 50th birthday. I recorded the video then went back to the hostel to email it to Lachie in case we couldn't get a live Skype session working. Unfortunately the file was too big, so I couldn't send it anyway! So fingers crossed it works today then!! So when Darren was ready we headed out and went to Vegansky Svet, the vegan place down the road, for lunch. This time I got sushi, and Darren got the same fried rice as last time, cos it was so good! The sushi was okay, but nowhere near as good as Tiana and I make it! After lunch we walked up towards the castle to find a Starbucks which apparently has an amazing view over the city (and wifi for skyping!). We found a Starbucks, which was the wrong one, then kept walking up to the castle to find the other one! It was getting a bit close to 2pm (10pm at home, and speech time at the party!), so I was getting worried we wouldn't find it in time, but after stopping at a souvenir shop for directions, we turned the corner and found it! Yay! The view from the terrace there was amazing, and an American family let us share their table so we could get a good backdrop for my speech! So nice! I connected to the wifi, then when Lachie was ready to connect us, for some reason Skype wasn't working? We tried a few times to get it going, and it just kept hanging up! I thought it might be the bad wifi, so I decided to give up the view and go find a seat inside to see if the signal was stronger. Luckily that worked and I was able to get connected. Lachie hooked me up to the microphone there and I said hi to mum and a whole bunch of blurry people. I got to show them the view through the window, which was cool (everyone was all like... Oooooohhhhh!!!!). The connection was still pretty bad and it was hard to hear what anyone was saying so I just gave a quick speech for mums birthday, then said goodbye before I got too embarrassed! Then Lachie took me out the back where all my siblings got on the screen and said hi. I miss them all!!! After we disconnected, we went for a walk through the castle grounds and past a very beautiful old gothic church! It was amazing. We got some really cool views over Prague then slowly wandered back through the gardens and streets towards the hostel. We stopped at the supermarket for some wine, cheese and absinth, then went back to the hostel to have a chilled out afternoon and night and just play some guitar and have a drink. One of the Uruguayan guys came out and hung out with us for most of the night, then I went in for a sleep. When I got back up my whole litre of wine had been drunk by some random that was now hanging out with the guys! I only got two glasses!! He "very kindly" offered me a glass of his wine though, so that totally makes up for it, right?? Oh well. When we went back to bed not long later, there were some fireworks out the window that we could see over the top of the buildings, which was a pretty cool way to go to sleep.
