We got up early and caught the train to Werfen which was a 50minute train ride. Once we arrived in Werfen we caught a shuttle bus up to the ticket desk of the ice caves. The scenery was beautiful as it was very mountainous. Once we arrived at the ticket desk we were pretty pleased with ourselves as we had saved 10€ by researching how to get the train and shuttle rather than using a tour company. Once we got our ticket it was a 20 minute walk up to the cable car, the cable car went up the steep mountain very quickly, at the top it was another 20minute walk to the ice cave entrance.
The tour through the ice cave was amazing the temperature was only 0 degrees. There were all these different ice formations and the guide would light them up so we could them clearly. We ventured 1km into the long 43km cave. at one point the staris were at a 45 degree angle. We also went through an ice tunnel. the tour lasted for one and a half hours and we learnt lots.
Once we made the journey back to Salzburg we went for a walk around. After tea we laid in the sun by the river. on the walk back to the hostel we came accross some group doing some break dancing which we watch for a while.
