Today won't be as exciting as yesterday. We were all rather worn out after traipsing all over Copenhagen that we didn't have much left in the tank for today.
We made our way into town on the metro then walked to Rosenborg palace. Our Copenhagen cards finished at 10am and the palace didn't open until 10am so we were hoping they'd let us in...and they did. The palace was vastly different to the parts of Christianborg palace that we saw yesterday, I suppose because Christianborg is still a somewhat working palace.
Rosenborg displayed furniture from different palaces. Each room was dedicated to a different kind or gueen and decorated accordingly. The major highlight was going down into the treasury and seeing the crown jewels both past and present.
We wondered through the streets of Copenhagen, slowly making our way to the Lego shop. The flagship store was rather impressive and expensive all rolled into one. They had some awesome kits that aren't available in Australia (that I'm aware of) like an architecture set of famous buildings around the world. They even had the Sydney opera house. I kept thinking of people who'd like something, pick up the box and freak out. So everyone, we are sorry you won't be getting Lego...
We continued down the street and it dawned on me that we were in the shopping hub. Nearly every shop was frightfully expensive, even the souvenir shop. We did find a little pizza place that was reasonably priced so we had a rectangle pizza, cooked in a wood fire oven, then folded in half and wrapped in alfoil. It was quite effective and easy to eat while walking.
We decided to make our way to Nyhaven. It was quite beautiful walking beside the small canal. Andrew had a quick look at the boat fees for docking in the canal for 1 day - $40AUD.
After enjoying some waffles and icecream (delicious) we decided to make our way home so it was off to the metro. All glad for a rest we sat and tried to figure out places to stay the next few days but got throughly confused. We had an early dinner of sausages, potatoes, noodle mix and rice and then piled into the car and headed for Roskilde cathedral.
They had a free concert tonight so it was a great opportunity to see the church for free and enjoy a concert. The cathedral has been the funeral and burial place of kings and queens of Denmark since the 15th centary. All their sarcophagus' were in the church.
The organ concert was pretty cool. Unfortunitly it came to a sudden stop when the air stopped flowing. It was explained what happened but in danish so we had no idea. Someone from the audience jumped up and off the two men ran. 10mins later she was playing again. It made for an interesting evening.
We leave Denmark tomorrow and head back into Germany.
