Its sunday! So after a lay in (Its so easy to sleep in here as the hostel is so dark in the rooms and there isnt much sun - in fact the sun doesnt come up until 9.45ish!), I nipped to the supermarket and bought some bread and bits for breakfast and made it for me and Bob in the hostel as he was a bit hungover and feeling sorry for himself! ha ha
I spent most of the day watching netflix in the common room and chatting to the guys that manage the hostel. I feel like I have watched a lot of tv but as its such a small place, there isnt loads to do but I quite like I get a lot of down time. A lot of people were shocked that I was spending a full week in Tallinn but I like it, it doesnt feel rushed and its nice to chill out.
I headed out around 5pm and called at a bar I hadnt noticed before that specialised in local gin! It wasnt cheap (10 euros a drink!) but the guy who ran the bar was lovely and really enthusiastic! I tried a chilli one and then a ginger one - they were really nice!
I then went back to my local (irish pub again!) and realised that I had spent way too much time there as the girl behind the bar started pouring my guinness as soon as I walked in! Oops! (also, I have had too many falafels from the kebab shop as the kebab man waves to me every day and as soon as I walk in says 'Falafel lady?'!!)
The pub was quite busy and the Man U match was on so I got settled to watch it. There were 4 lads who spoke irish in that were being quite rowdy, they were obvs very drunk. The barmaid told them to quieten down a few times as they were shouting and swearing about english people! I went to the loo and saw a passport on the floor and it belonged to one of them so I went over and said, I think you've lost this, and he accused me of robbing it out of his pocket! Rude! One of them also thought it was funny to keep calling me sir everytime he walked past! Bizarre. The barmaid then told them they couldnt have any more to drink (it was only about 7pm) but they wouldnt leave so she called security! It was all a bit lively for Tallinn! The police ended up coming and swabbing down where they had been sat so must have thought they were taking drugs too. Its a shame that people take it too far!
I was sat with an english guy from Leicester, an american called Glenn from Chicago, and an Estonian who was very drunk himself and didnt speak great english. He just couldnt believe that I was here by myself and travelling around on my own!!
There was live music on that night, it was just a guy with his guitar (steve from manchester funnily enough!) but it was good fun and we were up dancing for ages! such a random night but a good laugh!
I went back to the hostel bar and had a couple of drinks with the lads from my dorm as they were leaving the next day, I leave on Tuesday!
