So after a very lazy morning, just chilling in the room and chatting to my dorm mates (had to apologise for waking them up at 3am!) I went out to find food as was starving!
My dorm mates at the minute are an english girl (v annoying!), an italian guy who skypes business meetings all the time really loud in the room, a russian guy who is sweet but never stops talking, and a dutch guy. It was quite nice to just chat and chill with them for a couple of hours.
I really wanted comfort food but am struggling to find anything decent that doesnt have meat in! I found a mexican place that does though and had veggie tacos with guacamole and chips, was amazing and hit the spot! Couldnt quite face a beer though!
I wandered around for a while in the snow, it was cold though, minus 5, so I headed back for a shower and to get changed.
The showers in the hostel are the best I have had! Big rain showers that are red hot and powerful - just what I needed to get me warmed up.
As I was getting changed, the dutch guy came in with a pot on his arm! He had slipped at a viewing point and broken his wrist! I felt so bad for him as had spent most of the day at the hospital and had to go back again the next day for another xray which was the last day of his trip! I better be careful as I am clumsy enough anyway without the snow and ice!
As I had eaten quite a late lunch, I wasnt that hungry but saw a kebab shop near my hostel that does fallafal and is open until 6am and I thought, god I hope I am not in there at 6am.... famous last words!
I went to a couple of bars, one was really cool and was underground and played hip hop but it was quite dead. So in true brit abroad fashion, I headed back to the irish bar!
I chatted to a Swedish and a Dane who ran a Danish restaurant together here in Tallinn. The Dane was a bit crazy and it was him who had been arrested for killing and eating a swan when he lived in England! Like seriously, wtf?? Thinking back, I have so many more questions to ask him but at the time I just couldnt get over it!
It was quite lively in the pub and I got chatting to an english guy who lives in Chapel Allerton in Leeds! He had just moved there from Kent. He was with a group of both estonian and english guys (another who lived in Leeds and one from Huddersfield!) and they worked for Skybet and had offices in Tallinn and had been on a work conference all day and were taking the estonians out on the town as clients.
They were all my age and younger and good fun, they were playing darts and invited me to play - I came second to last! (sorry mum!)
Then the irish bar closed so they were heading to another bar to play pool and invited me so why not! I kept trying to pay for my own drink as I didnt want to get into expensive rounds but all they kept saying was, dont worry, its on expenses! Ha ha!
We went to another couple of bars, had test tube cocktails in one and played drinking games then went to a club (entry fee was on expenses!!) that played terrible euro pop music and served (very strong) pints of gin and tonic! We had such a good laugh!
Their hotel wasnt in the old town but they insisted on walking me back to the hostel bless em and we ended up in the kebab shop!! I checked the time, 5.45am!!!
Such a good night!!!!
