I am now back from Bali, it was amazing! I had such a wicked time. We were on the plane and most of the seats had blankets on except ours so I just took one off one of the other seats as it was pretty cold on the plane, before we even took off we were given a little carton of orange juice!! The flight was only about 4 hours. When we got to Bali we had to pay $25 US to enter so by the time we did all that we were the last ones to go through passport control and there were some guys looking at our bags, they had taken them off the conveyor belt and they carried them for us which we thought was nice of them (they worked there) but then they dropped them by the currency exchange and wanted us to give them money! cheeky b*****s! Jen never let anyone touch her bag after that!!
We got to our apartment and it was amazing. We had two single four poster style beds with curtains around them, there was a bath in the bathroom, we had a tv and a balcony oh and a mini fridge!! We went out and met up with my friend James in the evening, we went for dinner and to a bar and had double double vodka redbulls which only cost 15,000 rupee which was about $2!! I had 3 of them and was pretty drunk!! I spent about 60,000 rupee that night which was about $10!! Couldnt believe how cheap it was!
We did loads of shopping whiile we were there as it was so cheap, i went crazy for handbags and bought a few too many but they were only about 2 pound!!! bargain, i bought some funky trousers too, some shoes, a photo frame, a bintang t shirt, bintang is the beer they drink in Bali!
We went out shopping one day and went for a fish spa! you put your feet in this tank full of fish and they suck off the dead skin, jen and i were laughing when we first put out feet in and everyone was looking at us, it felt really strange.
On my birthday we sunbathed in the morning then went and had a massive ice cream! It was raining really badly when we came out of the ice cream place!! we then went Elephant trekking! it was amazing, we got to feed the elephants first which was fun, then went to see the baby elephants. We watched a show which was really cool, the elephants were so clever. Then we got to ride the elephant it was really bumpy to begin with but fun. Then it was dinner time! we had a 5 course meal! it was yummy. we had a samosa to start, then gado gado which is an indonisian dish of noodles, then we had pumpkin soup, chicken and pots for main and dessert was blueberry cheesecake but I didnt have that! The food was lovely though. When we got back we went and had a cocktail! It cost $100,000!!! well rupee but i kept saying dollars!! it was yummy.
It was really warm but more muggy than hot and like I said it rained a few days! I had loads of fun bartaring on the stalls one day I got some kenzo perfume for 50,000 rupee which is about $8 and i didnt even really want it I just askd how much it was going to be and he started off at 300,000 then i just kept saying no i dont want it but he kept lowering the price so i thought i'd have it for 50,000! he he. I'd bought my dad, stuart and Terry Bintang lighters but got them taken off me at the airport!! I also bought myself a photo frame and that got taken off me at the airport this end cos it had banana leaf in it!! luckily i'd bought another frame!
It was funny walking down the street, cos when we were with James the guys would shout out lucky man 2 women and then when we were on our own they would say things like nice boobs and say dirty things, but they were harmless. If you was walking along the road the taxi's would bib at you to get your attention but we never got a tax anywhere because there was a lot of oneway roads.
I had a wicked time in Bali and would love to go back for the shopping, shame its not closer to home!
Thank you everyone that sent me a card to was nice to have something to open! x
