Well our trip is nearly over now! We are in Exmouth at the moment. We only got here this afternoon. We went to Coral Bay this morning, it was really nice there. Its bigger than Monkey Mia, it has a couple of shops and a few different options of places to stay where as Monkey Mia you can only stay at the resort.
When we left Mary Pool we headed to Fitzroy Crossing, Jack used to work there, it wasn't very nice abo's everywhere! So we just got petrol and carried on going! Next was Derby. We went the Visitor Centre to see what there was to do there and the most exciting thing was to watch the tide change!! It goes from 2 meters to 10 meters!! So needless to say it didn't interest us! We went to a caravan park but it didn't have camping facilities so we had some lunch and carried on!
We were going to stop at another free camp but because we hadn't showered for 2 days we carried on and ended up in Broome!! So we were 2 days earlier than planned in Broome. We couldn't decide what to do for accommodation as we had a hotel booked for Broome for the original 3 nights. We ended up going for the mystery deal on Wotif.com and got the same hotel so we had 5 nights of luxury. It was lovely! I really liked Broome, we didn't really do too much was just nice to relax by the pool and read a book! One night we went to Cable Beach and went Camel riding, it was good fun. We then watched the sun set which was really nice. We went for some dinner but I wasn't feeling very well so we just took it back to our hotel and sat on the balcony. Jack took me on our first date in Broome as we didn't really have one in Monkey Mia. We went to a place called Zeebar for lunch, it was amazing! I had a veg foccacia with goats cheese, yum yum yum!! We went to a place called Gaunthame Point which had really nice views of the ocean, we climbed through some rocks and found a little waterhole so we both sat in it, it was really romantic as it was overlooking the sea! In the evening we went to see the Staircase to the Moon! It only happens a few days a month between May and October. How the moon rises it creats a staircase in the water, it was pretty amazing. There were markets but they weren't very good. We sat down on the beach with our chairs thinking we had a good spot then we saw lots of people on the jetty so thought we better move! We still had a really good spot and I got some really good pictures. We met up with Naomi while we were there too.
Next stop was Port Hedland. We stayed with Jacks Aunty and Uncle. I was a bit nervous about meeting them but it was fine. They have a 5 month old girl called Marley. She is gorgeous. We went on thier boat one afternoon which was really good. There wasn't really much to do in Port Hedland as its a mining town.
Then it was Karijini National Park. The drive into the park was amazing. We found a spot to camp and went to Fortescue Falls and Fern Pool for a swim. Fern Pool was really nice it was a big water hole with a waterfall. The next morning we went to Circular Pool it was a 2 and a half hour round trip. We walked around the gorges to Circular Pool which was about half way, the water was freezing!! I didn't stay in long! Then it was a climb back out to walk along the top! It was a really steep climb! I had to keep stopping as I was getting out of breath! We stopped in Tom Price which is just outside of Karijini and had some lunch. We stayed in another free camp in Barradale then it was only a 300k drive to Coral Bay this morning, think that was our shortest drive! We thought we'd got a puncture at one point cos we drove over something! We got out in the middle of a desserted road to look but it was fine! It would have been pretty scary if we had as we were litterally in the middle of nowhere and there was nobody around and we would have had to take everything out of the boot to get the spare wheel!
