WOO HOO Jack and I have been reunited! He's flight was slightly delayed but he got to me in the end!! I was so happy. Jack come and picked me up from my hostel and took us to our HOTEL!! OH MY GOD it was the most amazing hotel I have ever stayed in! We had our own apartment. There was a kitchen, living room, bathroom with a bath!!, washing machine and dryer in the bathroom and a balcony overlooking the lagoon and wave pool. We went out for dinner, Jack had a huge chicken parmy and I had an amazing pumpkin and feta salad. We then went to the Deckchair Cinema to see the Runaways. It was a strange film but nice to watch a film in the open air. It started to rain a bit but was nice as it was really hot. I had a nice soak in the bath when we got back! Oh how I've missed a bath! The next morning we went for a swim in the hotel pool at 7.30 in the morning!! We were staying in a different hotel that night so we checked out and went shopping to buy our camping stuff! We got some really good bargins. The shopping centre was huge and we even managed to lose the car in the car park! Jack had to leave me with the trolleys (yes we had 2) and find the car!!
We checked in to the hotel, it was nice but not as nice as the one the night before! In the evening we went to Mindl Beach markets, we met up with Naomi and Danni, we watched the sunset on the beach then there was a guy playing with fire which was fun to watch. We went back in to Town and had a few drinks. Jack saw a bus driver that goes to Monkey Mia and then she came back over with a guy called Chris he runs the Aspen in Kununurra and had arranged some free accomodation for us while we are there so that was pretty strange to bump in to him. Breakfast at the hotel was amazing it was included and we had a huge buffet, I thought it was only continental food but there was hot food as well!
We then headed to Katherine but ended up stopping at Edith Falls and camping there. It was only $8 each to camp. We pitched the tent for the first time, it was pretty easy to put up then we went for a swim there was hardly anyone around. We cooked our first meal using our $15 camp stove! We just had pasta. It started to rain a bit so we got in the tent and was in bed by 7 and woke up really early the next morning! We stopped in Katherine as there were some markets but it was mostly food. We got a really nice mango smoothie though. We then went to Kununurra, we saw so many dead cows on the side of the road it was horrible. We checked in to our hotel, it was really nice and we even had a free bottle of wine! Kununurra is really nice but there are lots of aboriginals!!
One day we went to a place called Swim Beach which is just outside Kununurra and had a BBQ, the burner we were using was really slow at heating up and the one next to it was really dirty and we didnt have anything to clean it with. A lady came along to use the other one and cleaned it and it heated up really quickly so when she finished we used that one, then we sat by the river eating our food it was a really nice spot. We were only going to stay for 2 nights but we ended up booking a trip to El Questro on the day we were due to leave so we stayed an extra night but decided to camp as we couldn't really ask for another free night!!
El Questro was amazing, we went along the Gibb River road which is a famous unsealed road it was really bumpy. The first stop was to Emma Gorge, it took about an hour to walk there, although it didnt seem to, we had to walk over lots of rocks and do a bit of climbing. The water was frezzing when we got in! Jack and I swam over to the waterfall and the water coming down from that was a bit warmer where the sun had got to it. We then went to Zebedee Springs, it was so nice there. It closes to the public at midday so it was only me, Jack and the 4 people on our trip which was good really cos it was pretty small. The springs were really warm, I sat under one of the waterfalls and it was like having a massage. Then we went to El Questro which was just off the Gibb River road. We had a really nice lunch. El Questro was lovely there were swimming holes, horses, cows and lots of things to do. We went on a boat around the Chamberlain River. We stopped and fed some fish and they squirted water up at you! We had champagne and fruit on the boat. It was a really good day out, nice and relaxing. One of the couples on the trip were a bit strange though!
We got back to Kununurra at about 630 and had to go to the camp site and set our tent up, luckily it wasn't too dark. I saw a Western Exposure bus at the camp site and thought it might be Naomi so I rang her and it was! so we met up for a chat. The next morning Jack and I were wide awake at 5am! but we couldn't leave until 7.30 as we had paid a deposit for a key card that gets you in to the camp grounds.
So we headed off around 8 on the way we went to a Sandalwood Factory and Jack bought me a really nice gift pack! It was really nice in there. We ended up in a place called Mary Pool which is inbetween Kununurra and Fitzroy Crossing. Its a free place to camp. There's toilets but no showers or water! There's a nice river but we saw a croc sitting on the bank yesterday morning so no way am i going for a swim! We ended up staying for 2 nights as it was nice and peaceful! We had a makeshift shower with a bucket and some water!! Its all good fun! We were in bed really early again and up at silly oclock!
