Its nearly time to leave Cairns! we have one week left!

As i mentioned in my last blog we looked in to going to Fiji and guess what..... this time next week we will be on our way there! woo hoo. We went to Flight Centre and got a costing for flights from Cairns to Fiji, Fiji to Nz then back to Melbourne and also a trip for fiji, which is a week long and you go to a few different islands including where castaway and celebrity love island were filmed, for all that it was only $2,300 and before when we got a costing for return flights to oz and the fiji trip it was $2,000 so we thought that we might as well go to fiji on the way to nz for that price! I am so excited!! I'm looking for to Nz too so that i can see lisa! its gonna be great. It will also be nice to be travelling and not have to worry about working for 2 months!!

We have been working while in Cairns when we got back from Cape Trib the hostel we were staying at said some jobs had come available doing cleaning so we took them and we just had to clean the kitchens and bathrooms 7 days a week then at the weekend we would have to do the rooms aswell but it was pretty easy and didnt take long as we did it together. We then got asked if we were interested in doing driving so we said yes but we have only been able to do it for 2 weeks! Its a long day you start at 8 and finish about 9.30, you have to pick people up from the airport and take people in to town its pretty fun and you get a few breaks in between. You get so many perks when you work in cairns, now we are drivers we get any meal free in a place called The woolshed which is probably the most popular bar in Cairns and we also get free soft drinks, we get discounted trips too and we could even get some trips free but were not really here long enough to do much! We get free entry and cheap drinks in most places too, its so cheap here!

I went up to Kuranda last week with Judith (a dutch girl at our hostel) we got the scenic railway up there and the skyrail back, it was a really good day did some shopping while we were there.

It was Jen's birthday last week too so we did a hot air balloon ride, it was awesome! so surreal just floating in a big balloon. we were meant to have a 30 minute flight but the pilot missed the landing so we got an extra 10 minutes. After the flight we helped put the balloon away and had a champagne breakfast! I told the guide on the bus that it was Jen's birthday so everyone sang to her! think she was a bit embarrased! he he We went out for an indian in the evening, it wasnt as nice as what we get at home! but was still good.

I went out on the Great Barrier Reef yesterday! what an amazing day! I went with Scott who i meet in Ayr doing fruit picking, we did lots of snorkelling and I even tried to scuba dive but i couldnt equalise (basically pop my ears, they were really hurting) so I couldnt do it! I was gutted as it would have been amazing. We then got a helicopter ride back over the reef which was probably one of the best things i have done since being in oz apart from my skydive! will def do something like that again.

We had our first proper night out last night (it was the first night we didnt have to get up for work the next day) we had a bbq at the hostel then, me, Jen, Judith, Trevor, Amie, Sandra and Eeric (Sandra works with us and we met the others at the hostel) went to Rhino bar for free champagne, it was really good in there they played some good music then we went to go to the Woolshed but it was really busy so we couldnt get in, so we went and met scott, Deborah and Mark in Gilligans for a drink we all had a good dance, we left there about 2.30 and went to mc ds! then walked home on the way home we found a kids playground, we've never had so much fun! it took about an hour to get home when it should have only taken about 15 minutes!!

Were off out again tonight doing a bar crawl, me and jen get it free as we are drivers so we thought we might as well take advantage of it!
