Well I have been in Cairns for just over a week now, we went up to Cape Tribulation on Monday for 2 nights. I had it booked through oz intro so when i rang up to book for Monday Jen booked it as well and the lady on the phone said it will take all day to get there then on the way back we stop at a Wildlife Centre and then they bring us back 2 days later.
We left monday morning and we took all our stuff with us and when we got on the bus the driver said bring your life this way meaning our bags and we didnt know what he meant by it then we stopped at the Wildlife centre on the way there and Jen found a brochure for the trip and it said what to bring with you, it said a small overnight bag! and we had taken everything we found it hilarious and were crying and the driver asked what we were laughing at but we couldnt tell him! The wildlife centre was pretty cool we saw some joeys in thier mummys pouches which was nice.
We stopped for lunch and the driver was showing us different wildlife and fruit on the tress and he showed us some ants that have green bums and if you lick them they taste like lime! so we both tried it! They tasted pretty nice to be honest! he he
The hostel we stayed in was really nice but the kitchen was a bit crap we had to buy paper plates and cuttlery from reception and there was hardly anything to cook with so we only did beans on toast!
We went jungle surfing which was wicked! we were suspended about 22 metres above the jungle and were pulled along on a zip wire! it was pretty scary but fun. I also did horse riding which was amazing too, I rode an ex racehorse worth $80,000, we galloped on the beach and had a few canters through the rainforest! such a good experience!
Me and Jen really want to go to Fiji but put it off as we are going to NZ but it looks as though it will be cheaper to go to Fiji from NZ so we think we will look in to it while we are there and see what happens!!
