We arrived into Sandakan after a 6 hour bus journey where we'd met a lovely Ozzie girl called Dee. Dee was on holiday in Borneo before going to the Philipines to have her teeth done...random! From the map our hostel looked like a short walk although we wondered why passers by raised their eyebrows when we said we were walking it! In the end we grabbed a mini-bus and, while packed on like sardines, discovered it was about 9k into town!

Our hostel was lovely with views of the harbour which was literally 2 steps in front of the building... the only down side was that Kim was ferociously attacked on the second night...by bedbugs. We kid you not - her arms and back were covered with around 300 very itchy and unsightly bites - HORRIBLE!!!!
