Kevin and Joannie on tour
Having woken up to the sound of waves on the beach, we packed up and left the Cabanas Don Bosco.
Today was about driving mainly, further down the Ruta 5 to Chillan. The snow capped Volcan Chillan was in sight once we reached the central valley from the coastal cordillera. It was hot and dusty. We stopped at Chillan town to do shopping and even managed to find some veggie burgers.
Almost immediately we saw signs heading up to Termas de Chillan but they disappeared soon after and we found ourselves heading out on the wrong road but could see where we could get back to where we wanted to go. We reached the village where we needed to turn towards another village called Pinto. Could we find a sign? We tried a couple of routes before giving up. Back at the main plaza we were given directions but still saw no signs until we got on the right road and from then on there were plenty of signs. This happens quite a lot in Chile!
Once on the right road, the way was lined with Cabanas and restaurants. At Valle Las Trancas, just short of the spa we found Cabanas with WiFi and booked in. As the season isn't in full swing, we had to wait to have them cleaned.
There was some sort of party going on in the garden and we thought it might be a rowdy night. But about an hour later the group had left and we were apparently the only people here.
For dinner we tried out the Chilean soya burgers.... not much to write home about! It was noticeably cooler here especially when the sun began to drop.
