Saturday 8th August late pm - Bourton
We had a very smooth trip home and soon pulled into our allotted parking space. Jannie got out and almost managed to lower the bollard so we were able to park. We humped the backpack and shopping bag up to our room and then headed back out to the river area where a charity was having duck races. They had these bright yellow plastic ducks with a large number on and they were selling each duck for £1 and when all of ducks were sold they would head up to the bridge and drop all of the ducks into the water from a large bin. There were hundreds of people on the banks and dozens of mainly kids in the water as it's only about 400mm deep all watching the progress of the ducks. One little girl kept picking up the last duck and throwing it forward to help it catch up. The ducks were all caught in a net at the next bridge down and all the kids in the water helped pick up all the ducks and put them into the plastic bin. Great little helpers! That aside it was a great fundraiser and the race took about 3 or 4 minutes. The water in the river is very clear and the stoney bottom is easy for the kids to race about on.
