Today is Easter Saturday. We departed Brisbane on time at 9:55 pm aboard Hawaiian Airlines Flight HA444 for the 9 hour flight to Honolulu. As we will be crossing the International Date Line, we set our watches back 20 hours and were served a light meal of sandwiches before settling back to catch some sleep.

Feeling a bit like groundhog day, we woke for the second time on Easter Saturday and were served breakfast at 9:30 am before coming in to magnificent views over Pearl Harbor and landing in Honolulu about 11 am.

It was pretty chaotic at the airport, as we collected our bags, passed through customs and made our way to the inter-island terminal where we caught flight HA 148 a Boeing 717, to Kona on the Big Island.

We picked up a hire car, Mazda 2, from Dollar Car Rental and drove to our hotel at Kailua Kona (King Kamehemeha's Kona Beach Hotel). We spent the afternoon having s looked around the local area and finished the evening with a great meal at The Fishhopper Restaurant.
