This morning, we walked in the opposite direction, past the Hilton and the Marina and on to the Ala Moana Centre which is a large shopping mall.
We visited the Army Museum which is almost next door and were surprised to find that it was formerly a fort built in 1917. It was almost demolished in 1970 but the demolishers have up due to the strong reinforced concrete construction.
We spent most of the afternoon enjoying the view from our balcony which included watching the elaborate preparations for a private birthday party on the function terrace below us. We ended up ordering fish and chips from the restaurant downstairs and having dinner on the balcony too. A bit of detective work determined that the birthday party was for David Carey, President and CEO of Outrigger Hotels.
