Not much to say about Surat Thani as it's only a stop-over on our way to the islands, but I have to tell you about our escape from Cambodia!! The journey to the boarded crossing of Poi Pet took us five hours. Five of the worst hours of our lives! Our mini bus was by far the oldest, crappest looking thing we have ever seen, it had a wonky sliding door, a hole in the floor and a mass of wires where the dash board used to be. We were really keen to be out of Cambodia so we piled our bags on the back seat and settled in. The road out of Cambodia started off badly, huge potholes in the ratty tarmac resulted in the kind of swervy driving usually reserved for SuperMario Cart. But things got worse when the tarmac ran out! The dirt track was bumpier than the surface of the moon, and sooo dusty. with the windows open (no aircon obviously!) we all ended up with orange hair and faces...a journey from Hell but worth it in the end :) Time to recover when we arrive on Koh Samui this afternoon...lovely!
