Just arrived in Mataranka, it's unbelievable that in the middle of the dry dusty outback there is this beautiful pristine oasis. A natural spring flowing millions of litres of crystal clear water out of the ground and down a water way opening up to a spectacular pool to enjoy! We've had several swims and Lochie has had so much fun. This morning he kept saying, "I love it, I love it!" After morning tea we drove to Bitter Springs a few kilometers north from here. Bitter Springs differs from Mataranka Springs as it is much deeper, generally 10-12ft and flows faster and has a swimming length of about 200m, not as ideal for little children as Mataranka but we had heaps of fun floating down with pool noodles with Lochie on our back.
Our camping area is really nice with Kangaroos, Wallabies and Peacocks regularly coming to our caravan. Very special times for Lochie! It's been very relaxing here, the weather has been great only getting hot about 2-3pm in the afternoon, making it a very enjoyable climate.
Tomorrow we plan to move further north to Edith Falls which is less than 200km up the Stuart Highway.
