Arrived at Edith Falls after having lunch in Katherine. We also popped in to the Tourist Information Centre, which was very informative! The staff there were very helpful with up to date knowledge and advice for the National Park camping areas, we were very impressed with their customer service! Our campsite here is bushy with heaps of area for Lochie to let loose. Its a really good site, apparently three other people had tried to get their caravan in here but failed. It pays to have a smaller car and caravan at times, not to mention my driving skills, ha, ha! Lochie has already found some other children to play with, he is so confident talking to people and making new friends. This morning after breakfast we set off on a 2.6km hike up the escarpment overlooking Edith Falls and Nitmiluk NP. It was a steep walk in some places and very rocky with lookouts along the way. Lochie absolutely loved the hiking and he walked the entire way!!
Wow, 1.6km into the walk the escarpment opens up to a couple of spectacular swimming holes including a beautiful waterfall coming down the cliff face into one of the pools. Once again the Northern Territory has displayed an amazing oasis in the middle of the outback, truly spectacular! We enjoyed a refreshing swim there for a while. I swam under the waterfall a couple of times while Kellie and Lochie played in the shallows. After an energy snack we continued the hike down the other end of the escarpment which then looped back to the campground. When we got back the campground was almost empty, we virtually have the whole place to ourselves!

Mum Hilder you all sound like you are having the most amazing time and Lochie is certainly becoming the avid little traveller.
Jeannette Fun to read through these as it brigns back memories of high school honors English.I thought Billy Budd was okay. Never got past the first chapter of Moby d*** (and have never been interested enough in the subject to try again); similarly, I LOVE Edith Wharton's short story Roman Fever (I hope got that title right), yet also thought Ethan Frome was the most depressing story every written (I cried for days).Never been able to get into Faulkner, either, but I think it's because my first taste of him was The Sound and the Fury, which I just plain couldn't follow.
