S: So the guys survived their first night of roughing it at the road side. Everyone had a good night and we were all ready to rock and roll. We took them to the lighthouse walk, and showed them the most easterly point of mainland Australia. It was a beautiful walk and we even made to it Captain Cooks look out site. So after roughing it the first night we decided to get a camp site and the only one available was a little rustic. (Me and James thought it wasn't too bad lol, we've definitely stayed in worse places). We walked back into Byron as the traffic was crazy, and we all wanted a drink. I always wanted a braid in my hair and all though Asia I kept going I really would like one, so this was my chance. The only downside was we had to drink cocktails until they could fit me in to have my hair braided - it's a hard life lol.
J: While Sam was having her hair braided I was chatting to the girl and she wanted to do a tour like we had just done through Asia. She was asking lots of questions and I suddenly felt like someone travelled rather than traveling. Then I headed to the bottle-o to get a 6 pack for the walk back to the camp site. The walk seamed smoother on the way back to get to our steak meal!
In the morning we had an early wakeup call as we had booked up for a surf lesson. We met our surf dude named Flash, who thought Yuri's name was Fury. Funny guy and I think he was the most typical surfer dude you could imagine, walked us to the beach and gave us an intro to the beach, waves and rips. Then gave us the basics before letting us loose in the water!
S: It was great being on a surf board again although the waves were massive and it took quite a lot of energy actually getting out to a comfortable level to come in on a wave. Mel did brilliantly and body boarded in on the waves, Yuri was giving it his all and had a couple of great wipe outs. I managed to stand again and I was loving it until I fell off. I had a quick break on the beach whilst James kept going and going. Getting more and more confident - it's a good job that he can't just buy a long board - it doesn't quite fit in a back pack.
