S: Today we started off the journey with a good Australian breakfast at a cafe before shopping on the way to Sydney. I had rung the campsite the day before and had booked us in for a couple of nights at a rather expensive rate. When we arrived me and Yuri went in and got another 10% off, Mr Keeler was pleased. Now we hadn't had a shower in a couple of days so the first port of call, was to clean up. And then head in towards Sydney (Although whatever way Yuri says - go the other way, it's pretty much a safe bet he's wrong).
J: We first got a view of Sydney City from the bus. Going over the bridge felt surreal. We walked around the dock area to the Opera House which was another surreal to see, it's the iconic Australia image (the most photographed thing in Australia) and we were there and touching it. We walked a loop around it and I never knew before it's actually 3 separate sections connected underground.
S: I was lucky enough to get a walk over the Sydney Harbour Bridge for my birthday from the guys back home. So we purchased one for James as well, and off we went. It was brilliant and to stand on top of the bridge was amazing. I was only a little worried to start with. We spent over 3 hours on it, and the guide was very amusing if not a little eccentric.
J: The bridge climb was amazing.
Later we found China town and we stopped at the most authentic Chinese restaurant we had been to outside of China. It was a BYO (bring your own alcohol) so we went to the bottle-O. Then we enjoyed pig's ears, seaweed, bao buns and rice soup which all amazing and somehow they miss charged us so we got it for half price!
On the bus home we saw a crazy woman that "would be sober again in 2 days" as she put it, she was the entertainment for the bus.
S: We celebrated Yuri's birthday in Sydney and we should have gone deep sea fishing but it was terrible weather and we knew we could fish further down the coast. We caught the bus again into Sydney and met up with two friends we had met whilst diving, Mike and Ella. We had lunch at a pub and then they took us to the 'Lord Nelson' which is the oldest hotel bar. It was very English in style with lots of very strong beers to taste.
J: Later on while cooking on one of the communal BBQ's we met a family that were from Cromer! Half way round the world and I find someone that knows little Lowestoft. We had a huge BBQ and played Cards Against Humanity which brought many laughs again.
S: on the way out of Sydney, we all wanted to go to Bondi Beach. We knew it was a little corny but I really wanted to go. So a quick drive over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and we park "tiny" and head towards the beach, it was blowing a hoolie. So we all wrapped up warm, I don't think Mel and Yuri had quite believed us, when we advised them to bring warm clothes lol. We walked along the beach watching the pretty impressive surfers there, the waves were massive. Then we headed to the iconic Iceberg hotel, and had a coffee whilst watching the swimmers in the pool get covered by a sea wave every now and then.
