J: When we woke up we were overlooking a stunning lake with the sun rising up on the horizon. I knew it was a great spot last night, honest. After eating breakfast and using the facilities there, it was still really early in the morning and as we went to leave the camp site the office still didn't have any staff in it, so we got the camp site on the house, it was great value for money.
S: Yuri was excited to reach Hunter Valley. We booked in for both wine tasting tours and a horse riding session - bearing in mind I have never ridden in my life!! The first tour was all about the grapes and how they affected the taste and what stage they were fermented. All interesting stuff which I'm sure will make me a better wine taster but I'm still not buying a $100 bottle of wine lol. Then came the horse riding, they gave me the grumpy horse apparently as I was explaining I was the least experienced in the group. Anyway I soon got the hang of it. And we were all enjoying the ride.
J: Me and my horse were getting on at the back but he wanted to go beside Yuri, I let me go along side, getting photos as I went. Then he soon went to pass Mel also, but her horse must of been the grumpy one as it kicked me on my foot! My horse bolted off and then my saddle slipped round the side of the horse and I fell off! The rest of the ride was more painful but it was still good to be out on the horses.
After that we had a more detailed wine session educating us on the making method, then came the tasting. I'm not a wine fan so wasn't excited. I found out I can tolerate a dryer white, liked the dessert wine (but that was more like a liqueur), but the red wines I can't tolerate. The bloke thinks I don't like the tannins; I just don't like the feel of them in my mouth! So after that ordeal we ordered a beer selection at the bar with 24 different beer samples, I defiantly prefer beer over any wine.
We had a chilled afternoon by the pool, caught some sun & enjoyed kangaroo burgers. Although it turned out to be too much sun for Yuri who got a touch of heat stroke and had an early night.
Oh nearly forgot; the next morning when we woke up Mel had been abused during the night by a mosquito who had a bit her face and her eye was swollen up to the point she couldn't open it..... It was like having Quasimodo in the RV, but the anti-histamines did the trick.
