¡Hola!
Today was a rather low key day yet again. We had to meet at el correo at 9:30 am to board the bus that took us to school. The bus ride takes about 20 minutes and is packed with students on their way to take their final exams. Fortunately, we were feeling a different kind of anxiousness as we went to see the school for the first time. Upon arriving at the school, we met two of our five professors, they co-teach one of our classes. The first talked slowly and loudly and was very easy to understand, while the second didn't open his mouth to speak, spoke so quietly, and had a very strong accent. I got extremely nervous when listening to him, but hopefully we'll be able to ask him to speak more clearly when we go to classes tomorrow. After touring the school, which actually was multiple buildings all connected and resembled a high school, we went back home for siesta.
Alice and I sat on our computers, just like every other day. We ate lunch and went to el centro comercial (the mall) to buy school supplies and creep on the rebajas (sales) again. Everything is sooooo cheap during the rebajas that it seems stupid not to make purchases during this time. Unlike in the United States, we walked there. We assumed it wasn't far, and we were wrong. Not that it was deathly to get there, but Cáceres isn't a flat city like Ames. We're situated in the mountains and have to climb numerous hills to get to the mall. It's probably a little over a mile to get there, but the hills and the heat made it seem like it was years long.
Later tonight, we had dinner with Lola (host mom), Susana (prima), Mara, Alice and I. We didn't like the dinner, but I don't think I've ever experienced a dinner quite like this one. We were laughing so hard for probably an hour about the silliest things. Mara taught us swear words and Lola told us about bomberos (firefighters). Susana informed us she didn't like fish and Alice connected with her immediately.
Overall, today as been a fun one and it reminds me how much I'm enjoying Spain :)
