We were up bright and early at 7am for our trip to the capital of Extremadura! We left the correos at 9am and took the hour and a half bus ride to Mérida. Upon arriving, we went straight to the Roman ruins and our tour guide told us the ins and outs of the histroy of Mérida. Although it was very interesting to see the ruins, the city wasn't what I was expecting it to be. It was much smaller than what our professors had talked it up to be and besides the ruins, there wasn't much else. We were able to take a quick lunch break and stopped to get some postcards and coffee, although naturally I didn't drink the coffee. We headed back to the ruins around 145pm and left to come back to Cáceres.
We got back around 3pm and I met up with Alix at 4pm to book our tickets. We officially have two of three plane tickets booked and I couldn't be more excited for spring break to come! :) Around 10pm, we all met at la crux to go to the clubs and bars.
We found a wonderful discoteca, smoke free, called Bahia. It's right next to a really nice hotel in downtown Cáceres. There wasn't a cover charge and there were plenty of university students there. They play our favorite Italian song, Ai Se Eu Te Pego, and my favorite Portugeuse song, Danzo Kuduro. They had liter drinks for 3€ and we had Vino de Verano. Although I'm not a fan of wine, I'm trying to get used to it since it seems to be a popular drink here. After a few hours, my new heels were killing me, so I took them off and walked home. All in all, I really enjoyed the night in Cáceres and I look forward to spending more time in the city!
