We arrived at Hospet and could not get off that damn train fast enough after 36 hours on the go, we were planning to get the local bus to Hampi but felt far too worn out to do that. I just wanted to crawl into a nice hot bath and stay there forever. We got a rickshaw to Hampi bazaar and quickly ate something and found a room.
You step out of Hampi bazarr into a world of untouched beauty, the sights are quite amazing, the ancient temple ruins and strange looking boulders perched on each other making weird shapes. Hopwfully the pics will do this place justice. It was 10 times more enjoyable to wander around here than Angkor Wat, nobody pestering you and hardly any tourists, plus the weather was stunning. We crossed the river in a little conical boat paddled by a local, then wandered some more through the little rural villages.
The size of this blog has nothing to do with the place but the words just dont do it justice hopefully the pics will.
Toady is Diwali so we have decided to stay in the Hampi village instead of moving on as all the locals are very excited about tonights activities and we have endless invites to their parties. Should be fun!
Tomorrow we have a 5am start as we leave on the 6.30am train from Hospet to Goa, where we will spend the last week of the trip before heading to Mumbai to leave.
