Well folks we have been back in the UK for a few days and I am finally getting round to writing the last blog of our trip so here goes....
We spent our final night of Hampi celebrating Diwali, our hotel owner invited us to his family party and although we felt a little out of place it was nice to be involved in the real deal. Watching 4 yr old children lighting fireworks with other fireworks and trying to relight old fire crackers is just such a delight and not in the slightest scary.
The usual standard train journey followed on our way to south goa with the exeption of seeing our first Indian Prostitute working her platform and giving the boys a sneeky boob flash, she could have been the mum of that one Wayne Rooney was involved with she was pretty old.
We headed first for the beaches of Agonda, a sleepy but pleasent place with only a few bars and a peaceful beach. Craving a bit of noise and busier bars we decided to head to north Goa. After nearly 4 months travelling we were feeling a bit lazy and took a 2hr taxi, which after seeing how aweful Baga beach was we spent another 4hrs in a taxi trying to find a nice place in Goa, turns out they dont really exist and Benidorm is a better option.
Settling on the resort of Candolim we found a nice hotel with a pool and checked in for 5 nights. We did head back to Baga for a big night out at the renowned nightclub and having met a couple from Finland we drank the night away with them.
The next few days were a definate low-light of the trip... We think caused by the swimming pool water both of us fell pretty sick from all directions. The worst night being a competition for the bathroom and at one point Nic rushing in to see that I had fainted from dehydration and passed out sat on the toilet and falling off banging my head along the way. Nic battled for 3days but after a visit to a very grumpy doctor she got some pills to patch her up ready for the big bus trip.
No night trains available we boarded our sleeper bus ready for a 15hr sleepless drive to Mumbai. This was our only night bus and wouldnt recommend it. Bouncy, jerky and squashed up together it isnt exactly the height of luxury.
We only had a single night in Mumbai but would have perhaps liked to stay a little longer but the hotel prices are very high even by euro standards. We saw the slums, the homeless etc but also saw the nicer side and the very western shops.
Well thats all folks we are now home. An amzing honeymoon trip that we will never forget for all the good and bad things. Thankyou for your messages and for reading our blog the final batch of photos will be on soon.
As some of you know I love spreadsheets and stats so I leave you with some figures
We slept in 49 beds, took 7 flights, 23 boat rides, 25 trains, 49 buses, 31 taxis and 41 rickshaws.
Were asked our names and what country we were from 1million times
