Another week with a familiar face here in Caceres has come and gone quickly, and as Danielle and I pack up her things we are starting to get ready for our weekend in Lisbon!
Monday day classes went by quickly and I came home to find Danielle laying out in our yard. The weather has been so great this week and is getting hotter by the day. We spent most of the afternoon getting all settled back into our rooms. That evening Danielle and I met up with Maren and her friend Maddie who was visiting to go and hike up the mountain. I had only previously driven up to the top, so we thought a walk would be nice. We left around 6 so we could get up to the top in time for the sunset. It was quite the hike, and ended up taking almost 2 hours to get from our house to the top, but the view was definitely worth it. We were able to watch the sun go down over Caceres and get some good pictures in the process. The walk really wore us out but it was nice to get out and enjoy such a nice night. We got home that night and made some pasta for the three of us girls. Mame came in and showed us a few tips on how to make a good sauce for the pasta so it was nice to get a quick cooking lesson from her. After dinner I did some studying for my test the next morning and went to bed.
Tuesday morning I had a test in my Spain Today course along with a few other classes. Danielle came with me to school and was able to hang out in the library while I was at class. I have my two-hour break on Tuesdays so we got to hang out in-between classes as well. After class, we came back for lunch and took a nap since all of us were pretty tired from the night before. Tuesday afternoon Danielle and I went to the mall to find something green to wear for St. Pattys day. No one here in Spain really celebrates the holiday, and apparently green is not the color of the season, so I had a hard time finding something to wear. Needless to say, I ended up buying a few other items instead of a green shirt, but it was still nice to do some shopping. I had lost my black flats the weekend before and was pumped to find two pairs at one of the stores in the mall for only 12 euros total. Not too shabby. Tuesday night us girls got ready and went to go meet with everyone at a bar called Kelly's. Kelly's is one of the few Irish bars here in Caceres and is conveniently located on Ireland Street, so we figured this would be our best bet at making an attempt to celebrating the holiday. We met up with a bunch of the people from our group and had a lot of fun hanging out at the bar and drinking some Guinness in honor of the night.
Wednesday is one of my easier days so I was able to come home early and hang out before lunch. Our mom made Paella, which is a pretty famous Spanish dish. Tonight, Danielle and I are going to walk to the Parque Principe since it is so nice out and then spend the rest of the night getting ready for Lisbon. We are leaving right after class tomorrow so we need to be ready to go by tonight.
Excited for another weekend of travels with Danielle!
