Cant believe the weekend is already over!
Yesterday, Ginny, Sean, Andrew and I headed into town to look for La Fiesta de las Candelas. Its a religious sort of holiday here in Caceres that the people of the town have celebrated for many years. The children get dressed up in old traditional clothing, along with some adutls, and enjoy music, food, and games for the afternoon. The whole holiday is celebrated for a few days before as well, but nothing as big as Saturday afternoon. It was fun to see a more traditional holiday that we could take part in. After the sun went down, it started to get cold so we headed home to get ready for the night.
Gnny and I got ready at home and after missing the bus again, and having to walk back into town in the rain, we met up with the rest of our group downtown. We watched the rest of the Madrid soccer game and then bar hopped for the rest of the night. We've found this really cool bar that is a lot more laid back, has good coffee, and a more relaxed atmosphere. Did I mention that barely anyone smokes in there either? You can see our immediate liking. We ended up at a disco later in the evening and afterwards caught the 4:00 bus home.
We slept in and had lunch with Carmen around 3:00. We explained to her what the super bowl was and she was bummed for us that we couldnt watch it. There is a bar that is broadcasting the game tonight, but it wont start until 2:00 am. I do enjoy a good football game, but staying up until 6:00 this morning and then going to class just doesnt sound too appealing at the moment. Maybe we will change our mind, but I think id rather watch the highlights tomorrow afternoon. Go Cardinals:)
Tonight we are heading into town with Carmen to eat some Churros and Chocolate:) Pretttyy excited. Its one of Carmen's favorite desserts so it should be pretty good-she has quite the sweet tooth. Afterwards I gotta buckle down and get my homework done. I worked on a little today but still have to write a quick paper.
Were getting excited to plan for Brussels this weekend! We have been looking up the best chocolate places as well as the infamous bar with 1,000 beers. Hopefully we can get a good idea of where everything is before we go there this thursday.
More to come later!
