My week with Caitlin came and went faster than I expected, but it was wonderful to have a familiar face around the house for a few days nonetheless.
Monday was a pretty lazy day for everyone. We were all still exhausted from our weekend and wanted to get caught up on sleep. Caitlin made it through our first family lunch with the Carmen's without too much awkward moments and we spent the rest of the day lounging around the house and spending time together.
I had class Tuesday and decided to have Caitlin come with me. We went into town early with Ginny and got churros at our favorite churro place. It is only open in the mornings or Sunday nights, which is probably a good thing since they are so addicting. We took the bus after breakfast and headed to school. I have a two-hour break on Tuesdays so Caitlin and I were able to go to the library together and hang out before I had my last two classes. That night I thought it would be fun to take her to my dance class so we got ready and headed into town at 6. It was fun to try to learn a few cha cha moves, and our instructor definitely had a good laugh watching us trying to learn. After our feet got sore from so much dancing, we left and went into town to do a little shopping. We stopped at a few of the stores downtown and Caitlin and I were both able to find a few things that we liked.
Wednesday was another rainy and cold day in Caceres. The weather this week has just been terrible. It was so nice last week but we didn't have much luck these past few days. Apparently, a cold front from Morocco has been hovering over us so that is why the weather has been so spiratic. After class, Caitlin and I went to go run some errands in town and buy her bus ticket home. When we got home, Ginny, Caitlin and I made puppy chow. We had all been craving it for some time now and had finally found all of the needed ingredients at Carre Four. It was a lot of fun to play around in the kitchen and make some dessert that we could share with our mom. Carmen really liked it, and although she said she should not have anymore, I caught her sneaking handfuls when we were not looking. We made a huge bowl but I am sure with us being at home this weekend it won't last past Saturday.
Today I had just two classes so Caitlin joined me again at school. After class was out, Ginny Caitlin and I went into town to get some food. Since Caitlin was leaving tonight, we wanted to spend some time in the old part of the city and get some food near the plaza mayor. We stopped at our favorite pub and grabbed a quick lunch. After we finished we walked around the old part of town and showed Caitlin some of the old cathedrals and the rest of the parte antigua. We all made our way home shortly after that so Caitlin could get home and pack. Luckily, there was another guy in my group who was headed to the airport tonight, so Caitlin was able to have a travel partner. This made me feel a lot better about dropping her off at the bus station and sending her to Madrid all by herself. It was sad to see her go but it was so great to have her come and visit. I am so lucky to have such great friends!
