La Spezia for the Cinque Terre! Cinque Terre is five towns all along the coast of Italy joined by a long walk that attracts loads of tourists. The towns are stunning and so colourful, like my blog photo. It's one of the places I'd heard amazing things about and was so excited for. We arrived there on Friday afternoon and checked into our accommodation in La Spezia- our drop off town and about an 8 minute train ride to the first town of the Cinque Terre. We had lovely accommodation in a hotel room with the most helpful owner, she was so nice. We were a 2 minute walk to the train station so jumped on a train to suss out the first town of the Cinque Terre- Riomaggiore. We spent the afternoon on the stunning pebble beach and met some Australians traveling in a bus around Europe. We had dinner with them & watched part of the Olympic opening ceremony before heading back to our hotel room. Saturday morning we got the train to the last town- monterosso as we'd heard the walk was easiest from the last to first. We made it up a whole heap of steep, steep stairs before I became light headed and very unwell so we climbed back down. Unfortunately we couldn't do the walk because of my state, and we happen to bump into our new friends from the night before so we jumped on the train and went from town to town exploring. We enjoyed the beautiful beaches, walked the towns before having dinner with our newly formed group of 9 Australians- we are seriously everywhere! Cinque Terre is apparently famous for their pesto so I had a beautiful pesto pasta for dinner. We had some Cinque Terre wine at a bar after dinner and watched the swimming before heading up to our friends traveling bus! We spent the night there in their decked out bus and headed back in the morning for our next bus. Next stop, Nice!
