Happiness Is The Road
It was a public holiday in New Zealand today and therefore we were braced for everywhere being really busy. After brekky we left Matakohe and hit the road travelling south and back towards Auckland. We stopped off at Warkworth to get some food at New World and then we went to have a look at a little place on the coast called Leigh which was not too far from here. We weren't that impressed with it and the beach was rammed. A public holiday was obviously not the right day to be here. We had a camp site in mind to stay at near here but we decided instead to drive all the way to Auckland and go back to the Takapuna Beach Holiday Park where we had started our New Zealand camping adventure exactly two weeks ago. It was really good to be back in Takapuna and we got a spot right on the seafront again. It was very busy here and lots of people were looking out to sea. We saw that there were lots of beautiful tall ships on the water. Auckland was hosting a tall ships festival. We just chilled out for the rest of the day, watched the boats and people watched. We both clocked a couple of women and a bloke acting weird. They were scooping up gravel from the path into a rather flimsy shopping bag. When the bag was fit to bursting the bloke bust a lung lifting it to the car park where he deposited it into his car boot and they were off. No one else seemed to have noticed this great gravel robbery! I hate to think how many times they'll have to come back and do this to fully gravel over their driveway! People are strange.
