Happiness Is The Road
We were very excited to be going into Sydney again. After brekky we walked to the train station at North Ryde and got the Tangara train into the city. We got off at Central Station today as this was the nearest station to Paddys Markets where we had decided to have a mooch around today. It was a big indoor market full of food and general tacky stuff. They had a couple of fancy dress stalls and Jay wanted to have me dressed from head to foot as a tiger! Great idea but it would have been a bit hot in this weather! From here we had a walk through china town, down past Darling Harbour and along to Circular Quay. When we got to the harbour we couldn't help but notice that a cruise ship was in. This was the biggest ship that both of us have ever seen. It was absolutely huge and it completely dominated the harbour. It was a hotel on water, bigger than most hotels. It was operated by Celebrity X Cruises and we dread to think how pretentious all the people are that had arrived here on it. We also dread to think how much they had all paid. We had a walk along side the ship and were simply staggered by it's size. We noticed that it was due to set sail at 6.30pm tomorrow and we decided that it would be fun to come back and watch it leave. We then wandered round to the other side of Circular Quay and past the Opera House to the Royal Botanic Gardens. We had not been in this part of the gardens before. We sat on the grass and chilled for a while and took in the view of the Opera House and the city sky line. We then walked back to the Opera House and had a walk right around the edge of it along the harbour. We got a very different view and perspective of it from here. By now it was nearly 5 O'clock and time most definitely for some beer! We had really enjoyed it in the Lord Nelson pub last time we were here so we went back to The Rocks for some more excellent ale. We had a pint of Quayle Ale and one of Three Sheets again. The ale was simply delicious. We also ordered some food for our tea as we were starving. I had a gorgeous fish and chips and Jay had a scrumptious steak sandwich and chips. With the warm fuzzies we wanderered back down from The Rocks to Circular Quay where we took some more night time photos and then got the Tangara back to North Ryde. Once we got back to the camp site we sat outside chilling for a while and heard some noise coming from the bins nearby. We caught the most cheeky of possums trying to scavenge from the bins. He was hilarious and completely gorgeous.
