Happiness Is The Road
There had been some strange noises in the night. Luckily when we woke up we both realised that we had not been murdered. I stupidly decided to have a shower before we left. I might as well not have bothered. The amenities looked and felt scummy and I still felt dirty after my shower. I straight away felt like I needed to have another shower. There were no locks on the shower door but I managed to shut the door by pulling it tight. I only managed to get out by kicking the door out 'Sweeney' style. There were no strange people in sight thankfully and I hot footed it back to the camper. Jay was waiting for me ready to go. It was 7.37, the earliest that we have ever left a camp site. We drove to the park in Parkes and had breakfast there. After this we went shopping at Coles and then got out of the place. The road away from Parkes was very quiet and the scenery was big and open. Our plan was to stay at a camp site beside Lake Burrendong. As it was Easter Monday we thought that it would be quiet as most people would be heading home and going to work tomorrow. As we approached Lake Burrendong we realised that we were correct. There was a steady stream of caravans, campers and cars towing big boats away from the place. We appeared to be the only vehicle heading towards it. The lady at the camp site reception confirmed that they were very quiet tonight and that we could take our pick of the powered sites. We got a great site which was miles away from anybody else, just how we like it. We chilled out and went for a walk to get a view of the lake later on. The lake apparently holds three and a half times as much water as Sydney Harbour. We had a lovely chicken stew for tea.
