Days 695-698, 28 Apr-1 May '16, GOATWATCH! And then there were 4! Stripey is Born! In news from the 'circle of life' front, Daisy2 gave birth this morning and is now the proud mum of Stripey. We arrived just after Stripey debuted into the world at about 9.30 am and the pen was immediately inundated with dogs, cats and a chicken who decided to lay an egg in celebration. Having got rid of that lot we noticed that Stripey was particularly quiet for a new kid and we cleared a crust off his mouth so he could start crying. Daisy2, being a new goat-mum, (and it's apparently not uncommon), was confused by life in general, desperate for her breakfast and wondering where the new set of legs had turned up from. And why her bosoms were hurting like no one's business. Stripey was a bit clueless too to be honest. Took a couple of hours of pointing mouth A in the direction of teat B and finally Daisy2 licked her own teats to relieve the bulge. About a half hour after that... Success! Stripey having her first feed is pictured. Mum and baby left alone bonding and Reggie (dad) and Sweetie (pregnant pygmy goat) left for visiting hours.
