Amazon jungle expedition day 1
The five Canadian guys, Jordan, two Nick's, Josh and I can't remember, Kent maybe? were all doing a five night jungle adventure. We were all loaded up in the long boat and within the first half an hour we saw pink dolphins which are extremely ugly! An hour or so later after crossing the mighty Amazon and going down a tributary we arrived at the village and house where we would stay. I say house because it was their house but it was more or less a big open air structure with not so many walls.
After we arrived we went straight for a hike through the jungle being dropped off down the river and walking back to camp. We weren't off the boat for more than a minute before we saw a giant tarantula! Throughout the rest of the hike we saw lots of insects and more tarantulas but no giant anacondas or jaguars. When we returned hot and sweaty lunch was served and then a "swim" in absolutely terrifying water with thousands of tiny fish trying to nibble at you.......
They had a little soccer field set up so we played soccer in the Amazon!!! After soccer and another "swim" we went out searching for sloths, and it didn't take long until we found one right by the water. We went walking in some of the thickest mud ever in search of more but found none!
Back at camp we went for another "swim", set up the hammocks and had dinner. The bugs were pretty bad so into the hammock and mosquito net rite after dinner.
