Flight to Leticia
My flight from Bogotá to Leticia was nice and they even let me bring my guitar in the cabin with me for no charge! What a difference from flying in America....."Sorry that's going to cost you 50 extra dollars"!!! Lol
Flying into Leticia we had just a little cloud cover so was able to see the Amazon and the River pretty clearly. The humidity once they opened the plane door pretty much just slapped you right across the face! Jumped on a motorcycle and he zipped me over to the "Amazon Hostel". I met Thomas the owner here and the man that gave me a ride on the motorcycle was his friend Gorge who wanted to talk to me about doing a jungle tour. So I went with George to his office and on the way there we got a flat tire on his motorcycle so we had to walk some of the way.
They told me about the two day trip, told me the price and I talked them down almost 40% so I was happy about that!
Later in the evening hundreds of thousands of parakeets return from the jungle to the center of the city to Park Santander, there's a church in the park and for around a dollar you can go to the top of the bell tower to watch this amazing spectacle of nature! It was definitely the most birds I have ever seen in one place at one time, absolute chaos! In the top of the tower I met five Canadian dudes who were going on a jungle trip as well tomorrow and booked with the same guy so there was a good chance I was going with them.
