Hitchhike from Santa Marta to San Gil!!!

So our plan was to hitchhike during the day and if that didn't work out we would take a night bus, because we were hoping to see the scenery on the way there!
We got off to an early start and got a cab to the outskirts of Santa Marta, where we didn't wait more than 15 minutes for our first ride! Two guys in a small quad cab truck took us for about two hours to as far as they were going. We decided again to walk a little bit out of town to a straight stretch and try our luck there. Well again we didn't wait more than 15 minutes and a brand-new shiny "semi" / freight truck picked us up and was going all the way to Bogotá through San Gil!!! Yay!
He was a super nice guy and he was playing good old-school American love ballads......
Like "total eclipse of the Ear" !!!! Lol
We stopped for dinner at a truckstop and we bought him a meal, while we were there his brother pulled up in a truck also! We drove until about 10:30-11 and he pulled off on the side of the road with a bunch of other trucks, grabbed a pillow and went to sleep! So we did the same!
