Day1 - Ciudad Perida (lost city) trek
Our lost city trek didn't start off as we had imagined it, they said they would pick us up at 9:30, he wasn't there till around 10am. When he did show up we had to walk across half the city to a different Hostel, where we waited for about another 45 minutes! When we finally did make it into the jeep we got stuck in the city behind a wall of people apparently waiting to get their government checks! After that, we drove to the dreamer Hostel where we picked up a few other English backpackers, including Helena, who ended up treking with Claire and I most the time.
From here on out it was smooth sailing, we made it up to the city where we would hike from and met our guide Ruth, and her son Carlos! Super nice Columbians!
It was about 7 km to the first camp with a stop off in a nice little swimming hole. Because of the late start we ended up getting to the first camp in the dark, but that didn't stop everybody from going swimming again in the camp swimming hole. I had heard good things about the food on this trip, Ruth and Carlos didn't disappoint, the fried fish was amazing! We slept in Hammocks this night and I had a great sleep.
