Hopped in a very cramped mini van with no air con for £2, to take us to Cerro Lawang, town where Mount Bromo is. The ride up the mountains was crazy, I'm not surprised if people go straight over the sides at the speeds they turn the corners. Our accommodation is literally in the clouds. Look out the window and all you see is this white mist, we are that high up. It's so cold here i wore my thermals socks and t-shirt to bed. And i checked the temperature and it was 16 degrees! I used to think that was fairly warm back at home. Arrived at our accommodation in the afternoon so decided to walk to the Mount Bromo crater. There was this huge plane surrounding the volcano which was just grey ash. The clouds would just come over us and our view would disappear. Took 200 steps from the bottom of the volcano to the top, which was 7,500ft. I felt a little un easy at the top, as we were so high up and no real safety barrier. Ash was landing on us and the noise was deafening. On our way down, there was nobody around the volcano so i come up with great idea to take a photo with no clothes on (see photos). Don't worry it was no sacred mountain.
Woke up at 3:30am to start our mission up the mountain to watch the sunrise over Mount Bromo. Set off with my little torch that my mum bought me, did the job, as it was pitch black. The moon was nowhere to be seen. The terrain was pretty s***, the roads were very gravely. Locals were waiting around asking us, if we want a motorbike up the top for £2. Nah mate, i shall walk it.
