Jono's Travels
A slightly less busy day today, I was able to have a bit of a sleep in and slept in until about 8am, I headed downstairs and got breakfast and then decided I had better contact my travel insurance company about my ears as they are still blocked. They told me I would need to head down to see a local doctor so they could check my ears to see if it was ok to fly, this meant I had to delay my plans of meeting up with Callum for a little bit. I headed down to the A&E at Charing Cross hospital walking, the person at the hotel had suggested taking the Bus, but the phone said it was faster to walk than it was to take the bus, so I just walked instead. I expected it to be rather busy being an A&E, but there were only about 5 people there and My name was called in about 5 minutes, it was a very quick check by the doctor and he advised that I'll be fine to fly. This was good news for me as it means I don't have to stay longer than planned. I left there and then proceeded down to The Tower Of London and took a look around, it was spectacular, while there I lined up outside for about 20 minutes to go see the Crown Jewels, once inside it still felt like another 20 minutes or so before I got to a spot where I could actually see any in person, there were just so many children around. Come to think of it, most of the places I've been there have been heaps of school trips going on, I find it hard to believe there are that many schools that there is always a school soon a school trip at the places I go, perhaps it's just been timing in general, or maybe they actually really do just have that many schools that there can be so many school trips all year round. The next task I had on my list of things to do was to go walk the Tower bridge. I proceeded to do this and then decided to take a quick look at the engine room to see what drives the bridge. I had the option to walk between the two towers of the bridge as well but simply didn't have enough time to do this, perhaps another day. It was now time to head off to St Pauls Station to meet Callum. We caught up and headed to the Museum of London. There was lots to see in the museum, and it takes us back to before London had even begun and proceeded though to current times, it even showed us stuff from the Great Fire of London and stuff from the wars. After leaving there Callum and I headed off to meet up with some of his mates for a few drinks, turns out that all of them except two are Kiwi's, one is from the UK and the other from Aussie, while the other three of his friends are all from NZ. After a few drinks we all headed off to Brick lane to find a place for dinner. The guys don't seem to have any preferred place down there as they seem to get propositioned as to which place to go to, people approach them, offer them a price and tell them what they will give them for that price. We ended up settling for an Indian Restaurant, while it was a well priced meal, I found that the portions were rather small in comparison to what we have back home. We finished up and we parted ways for the night. I happened to need to catch the same train as a couple of the guys which was lucky, because if they weren't there I would have jumped onto the wrong train, it was the right train line, just the wrong train and I would have ended up in the wrong part of town. But all safe and sound back in my hotel room now, time to get some rest, tomorrow I head off to Cambridge with Callum for the day.
