Jono's Travels
A said day today, our last day together, or should I say our day we leave each other, we left early from Amsterdam this morning at about 7:30am, Lieu and Damien came to the bus to say goodbye to us all as they wanted to say farewell and we had picked up a small gift for Ronnie the day before. It's a pint glass that looks like it has beer in it, we all know how he likes to drink beer, it wasn't much, but hopefully he gets a kick out of it. We said our farewells to Damien and Lieu who had tears in her eyes, poor thing. On the bus and off we went on our way to the ferry terminal which will take us back to England. Along the way we made a couple of stops in Belgium, we didn't really see anything apart from truck stations as due to the migration problem that's going on we had to make sure we got to the Ferry Terminal on time, this meant we couldn't visit any of the towns in case there were riots on the road to the ferry thus causing delays. We arrived at the Ferry terminal without any delays which is good, but we still had to go though and clear customs. While we waited for the bus to move up the line some kids on the bus next to us started to try and communicate with our bus, one kid did the whole "Call Me" sign at Brandi which go us laughing. He then proceeded to write what we though was going to be a love note to her... Turns out they just wanted the Wifi password for our coach... We ended up giving it to them, not as if they can use up much in the few minutes, and you know what kids are like, checking Facebook, Instagram, etc, etc... Wait... That's what us Adults do when we travel too. We got to Customs and proceeded inside, only to see a huge queue of people, it was going to take some time to get though, but it's just one of those things. We all got though without any problems and proceeded back onto the coach which took us onto the Ferry. The ferry ride was smooth and didn't seem to take very long to get to the other side, another good thing about this trip was that this time we had a much clearer view of the White Cliffs of Dover, as when we headed to France the last time it was raining so didn't really see them too well. Back onto the coach for our last ever trip on it, and sadly our very last time listening to Nation Express as part of the tour (I've purchased it so I can listen to it whenever to remind me of the trip). As we drove into London we heard the song one last time which meant this was it, our tour was coming to an end. We pulled up to Wombats where we ended our tour, we got off and grabbed our bags. Ronnie couldn't stay as he had to get the coach to the other side of the city as it was going to be used the next day. It was sad to say goodbye and I hate to admit it, but I almost shed a tear in doing so as I like to think he has become a good friend. The rest of us went inside to Wombats and let those that were staying there checkin, those that were moving on to somewhere else either said farewell then to us, or like myself, left our bags in someone else's room so we could go out for one last dinner with those that remained. We walked down to a nearby bar which had the Euro 2016 soccer game on the TV and had a meal there, these meals however were not simple bar food, but proper meals, even Thai Green Curries were on the menu. After dinner it was time for Sabrina to head back to the hostel, we proceeded to say farewell to Sabrina and it was at that point when I started to shed tears, it finally hit me that this is the end of my epic 49 day tour with all these guys, and chances are if we do see each other again, it won't be for some time. After farewells were done we headed back, grabbed our bags and I proceeded off to my hotel where I'll be staying for the next few days. I've met a bunch of awesome people on this trip and made some friendships that I know will be there for years to come, many great memories to last me a lifetime and I've learnt just how young NZ is by seeing the history that Europe has to offer. I will truly miss these guys and girls that I've met over my last 49 days. I wish you all safe travels home or to your next holiday destination.
