Jono's Travels
Today is our last day sailing in Greece, I was up this morning at about 8:15am woken by the constant ticking of the clock in the room next to me. With only Sabrina up before me I used the time to finish yesterday's journal entry. After breakfast we made our way to Igoumenitsa Creek which is a private island where we would spend a bit of time doing a heap of water sports like parasailing, jet-skiing and tubing. We pulled up to the dock where I needed to jump onto the pontoon so I could tie the boat up. I had changed my footwear into shoes as I didn't want my jandals to come off as I jumped over. My biggest worry was that I would over jump the pontoon and fall off the other side. This pontoon was only a day or so old and so there was still some extra work that needed to be done, this became more apparent as I jumped to the shore and my shoe caught some of the blue outdoor matting that was down and I almost tripped right over the other side. As the second boat pulled up to the pontoon, I stood by to catch the rope that Conner would throw me, unfortunately his rope throwing was a little early and I found myself diving to the ground and splashing water all over me as I had to reach into the water to get the rope, but that's ok as I got back at him having to throw the wet rope back to him so he could tie off his end properly. As I had already done tubing in Nice and parasailing as a kid in Queenstown I thought I would give jet-skiing a go. Jet-skiing was fun. Zooming around the ocean on a JetSki at full speed. While I was out the parasailing boat with all the others on board went past and I was able to go skipping across the boats waves. After 15 minutes or so I headed back to shore and watched the others parasailing. The parasailing boat went out and about and came back past us, turned around and practically stopped so the people in the harness almost dropped into the water before the boat speed up again. Upon arriving back onshore, Fabian decided to head out on the JetSki with Eloise. As I watched him go by I couldn't help think he looked like he was going faster that I was, turns out there was a sports mode button which gets you going another 20km. Fabian and Elouise came back ashore and then Conner and Ryan decided to go doing some tubing on single donuts. It was hilarious watching from the shore as we saw Ryan come off first, and then another time as Ryan jumped onto Conner and held on until they both went flying off, after a few more wipeouts they came back with one final wipeout at the shore. Fabian, Tim, Sharie and Imogen were up next, taking out a different type of inflatable. Tn something that would hold 4 people and even allow them to stand up on it. It took probably less than 5 seconds before they were all off. They made the mistake of leaning too far forward which meant the water just pulled the entire thing forward and they just tipped right out. After our water activities it was back into the boat to have lunch and head back to land. Two problems occurred during this. Firstly, the anchor stopped coming up, all the electronics checked out which meant that it had to be a mechanical fault so that needed to be pulled up by hand. The second issue we had happen at the same time as the first, but it took a while to realise. Lunch was pasta today, this meant that we had to have hot water was needed so a big out of water was put on the gas, regular checks of the water showed it was still not boiling, after about 15 minutes we found that we were out of gas for the cooker, not to much of an issue as there was a spare bottle that just needed to be connected up after the anchor was pulled up. After getting back to our final port some of us go together on one of the boats and had a few drinks while listening to music. This soon turned into a game of "Guess that Disney Movie" as Eloise has all the Disney songs on her iPod which we had playing. Pablo the skipper from the other boat was surprisingly very good at the game. We continued on until it was time to head to dinner. Dinner was at a local restaurant tonight and I had decided to very the chicken fillet, while the majority of the others decided to get Tuna. I tried a bit of the tuna and it was pretty good, turns out that our captain Dimitrios' father had caught the Tuna earlier and they had set it aside for the orders tonight. It was also Ronnies wife's birthday today so while we were all at the table we recorded happy birthday to her so he could send it as a message to her. We headed back to the boats and left Ronnie to get a good nights rest above the restaurant as he isn't allowed to sleep on the boat our last night due to driving rules. Getting back to the boat we played some drinking games but we won't go into details, let's just say it was full of lots of laughter, I feel sorry for people in our neighbouring boats.
