Day 22 21/9/2018
We are sailing for the last day.
Today is the last full day of our cruise. It has been a great adventure amongst the Croatian Islands and the most relaxing. We head to Dubrovnik at 8.00am, it is 2 hr of sailing. As if the clock is attached to boat we arrive stop on time ,we can’t dock as the area is to small so a tender , a smaller boat we take us the rest of the way to the old Dubrovnik’s harbour.
On shore we are greeted by a walking guide, who straight away get into her spiel, as it is already very hot. Our tour take around the town and we are told that most or the town was damage in the homeland war from 1991-94 when the Serbian army attacked Dubrovnik, shooting and bombing even though they had no weapon , people gathering water to put out fires from the bombing were shoot and killed at the edge of the harbour . The town has been restored to its original look but to remind them of that fateful day 6/12/1991 they have left mortar holes and shrapnel marks.
The rest of the tour was the same as most of the first came, you know the rest. Tour over ,free time , we are going to climb the mountain ,get the ticket , get onboard, an up up and away.
It is a spectacular scene , we are able to view Dubrovnik in a 360 degrees, and the weather ,although very hot is fantastic for photos. We decide eat while here and is good , charred grilled squid abs vegetables, of course a glass of wine to keep with tradition. It is now four o’ clock and our transport back to boat for last night is at 5 ,and it leaves at 1 minute past so we glad we were not late this time.
Dinner is on board tonight and it the farewell dinner and as it has been right through it was 1st class, the owner had brought a three piece band on , it added the atmosphere and laughter.
Well from tomorrow Shirley and I will begin our tour for two days who knows what two experience trekkers will find . I think my photos have captured the beauty of this town and it surroundings so be sure to talk a look.
So again we say goodbye for another day. Love you all .
Shirley and John
