Day 15. 10/9/2010
Travel and trek in a new location.
Prolog snoooooooooooooooore The number 406 bus trip from Zagreb to Plitvicka lake National Park .
The drop off was 700 metres from where we were booked into stay . So there are no pick up just a dangerous walk back along the busy road which was barely wide enough to fit two car ,and here we
Are walking into the traffic ,some close than would’ve liked but we made it .
Shirley’s tour brain had been working all the way down that 700 metres and had decided that check in and go, would be the order of the day and so we did.
This national park is the oldest and largest in Croatia, it is famous for its turquoise watered lake which are separated by Tufa which make most of the falls and there are 16 of them.
Ok that give you an idea what’s happening with the national park now Shirley and I started at stage 2
that is were the hotel Jezero is located , we buy the tickets and we amble our way along edge of the lake , for probably 2 to 3 ks we trek to the almost quite bliss of the lake only broken by the noise which only humans and monkeys can make ,constant chatter. The lake colour is truly the turquoise colour and there is fish , and ducks to be spied . We are fortunate to arrive with most of the real tourist finishing and we get the walking path to ourselves. It take us over 2hrs to complete the first section of the lake and we caught the ferry back. We started at 4,00 p.m and we finished at 6.30.pm,
It was now time to restore the tradition of a new place with a wine and so we did .
Part 2 next morning trek.
Up by 7 ,breakfast by 8 all planed to beat the fleet of tourist buses. We are on the ferry to p1 before the crowd we are away. This trek is more about the climb and the way the falls are formed. We actually see 8to9 lakes of various sizes and the falls ran into the teens ,We have photos of all but can’t get them all on the blog.
As you may have noticed this is two trek turned into one so I’m hoping photos speak louder than word.
We leave this part of our Croatia tour tomorrow to go to Zadar to swim as it is on the ocean. So that is all for now, see you in the next blog.
Love you all,
Shirley and John
